João Perloiro

João Perloiro received an MArch from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon in 1987.
Between 1983 and 1989 he worked in the architecture practice of the late João Bento d’Almeida, first as an apprentice and later as project director, largely dedicated to cultural projects such as museum renovations and exhibitions, most notably the Gallery of Paintings of King Dom Luís in the National Palace of Ajuda.
Shortly after, in 1991, he served as an associate architect working on hospitality design for the Japanese conglomerate AOKI Corporation.
Within the partnership, João Perloiro heads the Interior Design division, working closely with the architecture teams to ensure comprehensive and interconnected across-the-board design.
He also handles complex hospitality projects, often involving sensitive heritage issues.
In an effort to develop an increasingly holistic vision, he has cultivated an in-house product design practice, with multiple pieces of furniture and objects fabricated and customised for specific projects.
Over the past 30 years he has also been actively involved in relief projects for various humanitarian and charitable institutions.
