Principe Real House
Príncipe Real, Lisbon, Portugal
2011–2010
The house occupies a ground floor and basement of a 1920s apartment building in Principe Real, one of Lisbon’s most exclusive districts. Since 1994, promontorio has been assisting the same owner in making different changes to the property, of which this final iteration designed in 2010 constitutes the most in-depth one.
Although the building had been fully refurbished by its previous owners, back in the 1990s, it required several major changes, not only in the most basic technical issues, but also in terms of layout and finishes.
Over the years, the renovations to the rooms, bathrooms, and even kitchen have been adapted to the evolving requirements of their growing family; from young children, to teenagers and adulthood with offspring of their own. This most recent change includes the introduction of a large balcony opened to the dining room, and the complete renovation of the garden and redesign of the swimming pool.
