Troia Conference Centre
Tróia, Portugal
2009–2005
Troia Conference Centre is part of the Troia Design Hotel complex, which also includes a 5-star hotel with serviced apartments, casino and performing arts centre.
The conference centre has been conceived in such a way as to allow maximum flexibility for simultaneous events; thus it can be accessed through foyers on opposite ends. These foyers are in turn connected to twin canopies, forming a cantilever than spans over 25 metres on the larger side, towards North. The latter offer shelter from the sun and the rain whilst unequivocally announcing the guests’ entrance.
The main ballrom has capacity for up to 900 guests on a single event, but can also be split into four rooms with dedicated foyers. There are also 12 multipurpose breakout rooms which can seat up to 100 guests each. Unperceived by visitors, all the catering services and technical support is provided through a main vertical riser at the core of the complex.
